More Investor Speculation Over Making Investments in Africa

Africa has long been considered a speculative investment. Although plagued with a troubling history, the region has finally begun to fix its widespread economic problems and analysts predict that profits should begin to flow and stock markets should rise. A major influence on Africa’s economy and where it’s at today is largely due to China’s is hunger for natural resources; the same resources African countries have an abundance of. As China flourishes as does India’s exports, giving India a greater standard of living and contributing to their economic prosperity.

It’s a great time to start investing in Africa considering you have the whole continent open to you, with very little competition and a political environment far better than it has been in the past 20 years. The African continent has long been hyped for its abundance of natural wealth and favorable demographics, but the escalation of better governance was the game-changer. Improved governance, investments by Eastern countries and the resolution of the debt crisis have resulted in substantial advancement in supporting businesses and the resulting maturation of the business climate within Africa.

Economic indicators all point to the tremendous investments and business opportunities available in the region. Recruiting local expertise is definitely critical for Africa, small enterprises have the potential to create jobs and sustainable economic growth. The best way to contribute to the success of these enterprises is to make investments in Africa, which will provide the region new cash flow. Business people should not see government as an obstruction to their aspirations but rather a rich source of information on how to engage and commerce in that country.

Mining and natural resources are only a piece of the investment story of a continent where over a thousand languages are spoken and climates vary from scorching deserts to frozen glaciers. India has come a long way, being partners with China does wonders to the power of India’s economy. As China prospers alongside will partners and affiliates of this country, contributing to a pool of emerging markets, rather than just China. China is a part of a larger picture in terms of our global vision and many investment trends will derive from the observation of Chinese investments and economic activity.

Investment Into Africa is Inspired by Growth Potential

Since the turn of the 21st century, more investments have been pouring into Africa, at the same time that the western economies have been struggling and failing. At the moment, China, The Middle East and India, are among the world's leaders when it comes to investments; in Africa.

Investing in transport infrastructures, such as ports, roads and railways, to transport the consumer goods needed to meet the growing demand; has been the first step. The building of this transport infrastructure, has also lead to the demand for more workers, trucks, trains, ships and even more shipping container investing, to carry the cargo from port to port and back again; carrying Africa's exports. These projects have created jobs, that generated disposable income for workers, and lead to the need for more consumer goods.

With a population that is expected to grow and surpass China's by 2050, Africa has tremendous potential for consumer growth, but it is still reliant upon initial investments from private investors; who believe strongly in Africa's potential. Investors believe that Africa's growing stability continues to coincide with the uncertainty of the western markets, and investors are regarding it as a viable option with potential for sizable growth; over the next 40 years.

Nigeria Introduces Shipping Port Reform to Increase Trade

Even as the western economy continues to struggle to regain their footing, the economies in other regions of the world, continue to move full steam ahead. The advancements and improvements in Nigeria, is a perfect example.

Shipping traffic numbers for the last five years shows, have shown steady double-digit growth for the industry, and is profitable forecast is expected to continue; well into the future. This year, the Nigerian Port Authority expects more than 6,000 container ships to dock at their ports, compared to only 3689; in 2006. These figures are far above the shipping industry's predictions, and with demand on the rise, opportunities like shipping container investing and investments into port, channel and harbor improvements; are showing no signs of slowing down.

Five years ago, Nigeria introduced port reform with the intention of increasing trade, and their efforts have exceeded all expectations. Beforehand, ships would be idle at the docks from two to four weeks. Investors know that this is a lot of down time, and that ships must be kept moving to make money. Nowadays, with the reforms in place, shipping container vessels are back on their way; in just a matter of days.
